About Card Games by Letter

Who runs this list of card games, how entries are checked, and how to send a correction.

Last updated: 2026-10-18

Card Games by Letter is an independent, editorially run list of card games. It started as a simple question—which card games start with a given letter?—and has grown into a directory of more than three hundred traditional, modern, and collectible card games, with lists by situation and plain-English rules guides for classic games.

What we do

  • Check every entry by hand. A game is added only after we confirm its published title, player range, typical play time, and what you need to play it against a named source.
  • Link to where the rules live. Traditional games link to pagat.com, the long-running archive of card game rules; solitaire games link to a solitaire rules reference; modern games link to the publisher or the game’s BoardGameGeek entry.
  • Write our own words. Summaries, difficulty ratings, situation lists, and rules guides are written by us. We do not copy rulebooks or card art.
  • Keep the list honest. Some letters have only a few genuine card games. We would rather show five real entries than pad a page with invented or loosely matching titles.

How we rate difficulty

Each game gets one of three editorial ratings: learn in five minutes, short rules read, or involved rules (bidding systems, unusual packs, deck construction, or long campaigns). The same scale is used on every list and in the finder.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any game publisher, and a listing is not an endorsement. Game names and trademarks belong to their owners. The site may show advertising to cover its running costs; advertisers have no influence on which games are listed or how they are described.

Corrections and suggestions

Traditional games vary from table to table, and publishers update editions. If you spot a mistake, a broken link, or a game we should add, please contact us—corrections are the most useful messages we get.
